THE CRUCIBLE AND 9/11 - TWO SIMILAR STORIES
WHAT ARE THE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN THE CRUCIBLE AND 9/11
The Crucible and 9/11 have many connections from before and after both of the events happened, these connections are the tensions which led to the main events, the impacts, and the reactions of the people.
TENSIONS BEFORE THE EVENTS:
Before the events known as The Salem Witch Trials and the 9/11 attacks there was tension forming, for example in The Crucible Proctor, Elizabeth, and Abigail had some conflicts going on in their personal life's at home and in 9/11 tension was similar due to personal conflicts and differences between U.S. and Islam's Al-Qaeda who was led by Osama Bin Laden.
THE EVENTS:
Tensions led to the main events which in The Crucible was The Salem Witch Trials and in 9/11 it was the attacks. In The Crucible a group of girls were accused of being witches after being caught dancing in the forest which is something not permitted in Salem, Massachusetts in colonial time and in September 11, 2001 Muslim terrorists high jacked two planes and flew them into the World Trade Center in New York. These events had a huge impact on society in both scenarios which led to mass hysteria.
AFTER THE EVENTS:
- After the events mass hysteria and the impact on people was tremendously similar, for example in The Crucible many people began to become paranoid of neighbors and people that they knew being witches so they accused each other. After 9/11 the impact was similar when Americans became paranoid of Muslims around, calling them terrorists.
- The Americans accusing Muslims of being terrorists could be related to Abigail, her crew, and other women accusing others of being witches. These people just pointed fingers at others without proof.
- Another connection is how the accusations in both events were false and it's just a result of mass hysteria which proves how it affects people.
